What is a neuropsychological evaluation?
A 4- to 6-hour, noninvasive test of a person’s cognitive abilities, memory, and mood.
What to expect during a neuropsychological evaluation?
The testing process consists of questionnaires, activities, and tasks. They require the individual to recall information, answer comprehension questions, and measure attention.
Who is a neuropsychological evaluation for?
Adults with cognitive, personality, or neurological changes. These may indicate a brain or nervous system condition.
Why should someone receive a neuropsychological evaluation?
To measure how well a person functions in various cognitive areas. Evaluation results can be utilized to:
- Formulate a baseline for diagnosis and treatment.
- Define cognitive strengths and weaknesses.
- Assist in developing a treatment plan.
- Provide recommendations for daily life.
- Document possible changes in function.
- Enable the neuropsychologist to develop recommendations for appropriate expectations and behavioral interventions.

What happens after an evaluation?
Assessment results will help find the right care for the best recovery. A neuropsychologist will review the results with the patient and provide a report to the physician. As requested, the others involved in their care may also receive the report.


Claire McGrath, Ph.D., ABPP
Senior Clinical Director
Claire McGrath is the Senior Clinical Director for Bancroft NeuroRehab and oversees psychological services. Dr. McGrath is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. At Bancroft NeuroRehab, she directs psychological and neuropsychological services. She leads the psychology department to advance neuropsychological assessment and psychological treatment for individuals in outpatient, residential, and day program services.


Tiffany Channing, Psy.D.
Neuropsychologist
Dr. Channing is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurological conditions. She earned her doctorate from Regent University. Dr. Channing currently practices at Bancroft NeuroRehab, providing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for individuals with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries and offering neurorehabilitation psychology services.


Matthew Pigman, Psy.D.
Neuropsychologist
Dr. Pigman is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist who earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Widener University, specializing in neuropsychology. He currently practices at Bancroft NeuroRehab, where he conducts neuropsychological evaluations for adults and has specialized training in providing neurorehabilitation psychology services for individuals with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries.


Sarah E. West, Ph.D., ABPP-CN
Senior Neuropsychologist
Dr. West is a Senior Neuropsychologist who earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Dr. West is a board-certified Neuropsychologist. At Bancroft NeuroRehab, she specializes in Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, stroke and brain trauma.
